Frequently Asked Questions

I offer both licensed therapy services and professional coaching. Below are answers to common questions about each.

Therapy

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma-informed therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer carry the same emotional charge. It works with how memory and the nervous system store and integrate experiences.

  • Not necessarily. EMDR does not require you to retell every detail of your experience. The work focuses more on how the memory is stored than on repeatedly talking through it.

  • EMDR is often used for trauma and PTSD, but it can also support anxiety, grief, relationship patterns, and experiences that continue to feel emotionally “stuck.”

  • Sessions are structured and paced carefully. You remain aware and in control throughout. Many people describe it as allowing their mind to process naturally, with guidance and support.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and history. Some concerns resolve in a shorter period; others benefit from longer-term work. We will discuss what makes sense for you.

  • Yes. I provide licensed therapy services in Georgia, Vermont and Montana in accordance with state regulations and ethical standards.

  • Yes. Virtual sessions are available for clients located in the state(s) where I am licensed to practice.

  • The first step is a brief phone consultation to determine fit and answer practical questions.

You may call (706) 917-8733 to request a consultation.

Please note: The consultation call is not a therapy session and does not establish a therapeutic relationship.

Coaching

  • Therapy focuses on healing emotional pain and mental health conditions. Coaching focuses on building clarity, direction, and forward movement.

Both are valuable. The difference is whether you need healing support or growth-focused guidance right now.

  • Coaching may be a good fit if you:

    • Feel stable but stuck

    • Want clarity around purpose or next steps

    • Are navigating a life transition

    • Want accountability and structure

If therapy would better serve you, I will always encourage that path.

  • Yes — but the focus is insight and forward progress, not diagnosis or clinical treatment.
